Councillor Angus Campbell, Leader of the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council), Angus Campbell has worked tirelessly to promote the Outer Hebrides as a location for renewable energy production from wind, wave and tidal sources. Angus has been at the forefront of efforts to bring green jobs and investment to the islands which face higher than average unemployment and projections of a steep population decline over the next two decades. He has demonstrated leadership and vision and has been an effective advocate for the industry at all levels.
The blog formerly known as "Angus Nicolson - an incredulous eye on the isles" this was the blog of an ordinary, boring, former Councillor in the Western Isles of Scotland.
Angus is taking a sabbatical to be with his young family
Debate strengthens democracy, except inside the SNP, as he has discovered.

I find it offensive that you all ridicule such an up standing piller of the local community and the democratic leadership we all need. This man has worked ceaselessly for on shore renewables against a huge tide of opposition and yet has tirelessly continued to promot the benefits of installing hundreds of massive turbines all over Lewis so we can all enjoy the benefits they will give us. He is our great leader I will not hear bad talk of him. I belive Angus will lead us to a great future, I belive Gordon Brown will save the world, Labour will win the next election, that we will all speak Gaelic by 2016 and that there are fairies at the bottom of my croft.
ReplyDelete'Hi, I'm wee Angus, and I believe in the magic of wind-power, mainly because I'm a politician, not an engineer. We need more onshore wind-farms, no matter how useless they may be.'
