Waste to power

This story in the Scotsman clearly explains the need for a proper grid connection to the Western Isles.

If we cannot use spare energy from the waste plant without jumping through a lot of hoops, how are we ever going to get renewable energy (of any description) to work here.

Thankfully, we may have a work around but it is still less than satisfactory.
