Joke of the day
How many members of the Lords Day Observance Society does it take to change a lightbulb?
Here's another of the same- How many Lewismen does it take to change a lightbulb? Two, one to change the bulb, another to write a song about how good the old one was.
These are not good times for the Islands, and the delay in making any progress on RET, (now apparently postponed until the end of the year) is further proof that the promised bright new dawn of last May is turning into a cruel mirage.
If the use of the expression Eastern European is construde as racist then you must be careful Angus not to be challenged as being offensive to those how follow, albit a primative, branch of the Christian Faith.

Plus I'm sure some folk will find the joke offensive, satire mormally is offensive to it's targets, that's kind of the point.

hello green party welcome to lewis! why do you guys always moan about extra roads instead of campaigning for new types of greener engine such as hydrogen? new roads don't cause the problem its the vehicles on 'em that do that!
This comment page has been hijacked! Never mind the turbines, today, Sunday,I passed a minister in uniform driving his car!AND he was speeding! IMAGINE! Forty years ago the elders would have had him excommunicated then exiled to the colonies for even daring to drive a car, never mind break the law on the Saaaabath. My point- in a few years these sad people will all be on the ferry/ planes pretending that there never really was a fuss made about Sunday travel.
Anon 5.01pm- These sad people are already using the planes, just a few short years after their demos, doom and gloom, and daft predictions of the end of civilisation as we know it. I am reliably told that in the last few years, even some of our elected representatives who vote consistently against Sunday travel, travelled on Council business on the Sabbath, including the quasi-autonomous Pendleton beano. F0I request to the Council any one? Our MSP is already on record as a non-user of Sunday Ferries, try a "google" search on Sunday ferries from Selkirkand you will find out why!
I think you will find that this is the reason that the sanctimonious Councillor left Back Free Church - just before they threw him out - and moved to Stornoway Free Church.
It hasn't stopped his Sunday travels though.
Is it true that he used to claim lunch and dinner expenses every day in the Council, desite living 1mile from the building? He must have got thousands!
eyoop- pay attention, man of many mansions said 'just before they threw him out'. Maybe we could have another branch of the frees, one that does not believe in prof macleods, but does admit to the existance of ferries on a Sunday?
Without the turbines there will be no electricity, so no reason for lightbulbs.

Perhaps, but Calmac have made a big mistake in allowing the ferry across the Sound of Harris on a Sunday. Look who they've upset - bad move...
