The truths they don't want you to read....

500,000 thanks

When I first started blogging it was as a way of letting-off steam that I expected to be read by family and a few random visitors.

Nothing much has changed, except that over 500,000 page views later I have you, dear readers, to berate, abuse and occasionally praise me.

Thanks for putting up with me.

Well, you scooped the Gazette this week so no wonder people are reading it!

Well Angus no one should berate you(means to be angry at) or abuse. its a pity you don't have a large column in one of the National newspapers and then more people could understand how our money is being wasted by our so called council. KEEP up the good work

You're welcome! I think the pleasure is at least partly ours!

4.17

Thanks for the explanation of the word 'berate'; your wish to have Angus in a national paper will obviously have to be restricted to the Sun, or maybe the Sport. Don't want complicated words like 'berate' to appear there to confuse all of us.

But, generally well done. A brave venture getting this blog going, though the capacity (as exists everywhere) for blog entries to be created for nefarious (4.17 check the OED) purposes like doing down commercial competitors, such as WeeW, is a distressing downside.

On balance, though, a greater power for good than bad, in my opinion.

Now just stop it, this outpouring of emotion is really...can we just get back to the bitching!

Angus,

Your blog is probably the ONLY debating forum in the Hebrides. I have a look now and then at other so called well known bloggers and note with some interest that their comments section is almost always empty.
As commentators on your posts we may not always agree with each other, or with your post, but, gooodness me, there is a healthy Island debate going on which covers topics which would otherwise be swept under the carpet.

More power to your elbow.

Poor Angus, he never even mentioned WeeW, now its on every thread. Love there Gazette starter this week - we are not struggling... we are here for the long term... It reminded me of Dads Army, Clive Jones- Don’t Panic Don’t Panic!!!!

Being someone on the inside, I know how hard certain factions have tried to get this blog stopped. They have challenged Angus professionally and financially because they couldn't take criticism.

Good on you Angus to have the balls to stick with it. Keep on going and lets hope that all the contributors (secret or not) continue to trust that Angus has the upmost integrity with your identity.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you Angus for your unbiased views, as you treat everyone with the same respect and contempt.

p.s.Well done and looking forward to you hitting the 1,000000 in the near future.

All the best from the Barra Bhuoy, Beach Buoy and President Salmond.

Look he's going to have to grease his head to get out the room if this carries on and it will only make him complacent.

I don't always agree with you - especially on windy turbines and (sometimes) the Nats (you need to move on?) - but you're never dull and this is a *much* more accurate portrayal of what goes on in the Outer Hebrides than the tweed-and-tourism aren't-we-all-one-big-happy-ceilidh-every-day image many would like people to believe.

So please keep blogging. Life is never dull (for good or bad) in the Outer Hebrides, as this shows. I'll see you for a curry in Stornoway next year.

I have just started regularly checking your site & I think you are very brave. Although I have a strong opinion on a lot of issues I would be too frightened to comment where it may be noticed - so thank you for putting yourself forward. The Western Isles is crying out for someone to put themselves out there on what is right especially when those who should be looking out for us are just watching there own back (or the TV)!

Angus, this is the only outlet many of us have for airing grievances the authorities would rather ignore. Keep up the good work!

Ah, so berate means to abuse and occaissionally praise.... always wondered
