An Lanntair

Any idea why 6 directors of An Lanntair resigned during November 2009??? Just how bad are the Management Accounts that they are running. And guess who has now been appointed as a director, the illustrious Brian Wilson :-)
Companies House shows:

25/11/2009 APPOINTMENT TERMINATED, DIRECTOR CAROLINE MACLENNAN

25/11/2009 APPOINTMENT TERMINATED, DIRECTOR FINELLA MORRISON

25/11/2009 APPOINTMENT TERMINATED, DIRECTOR CALUM MACDONALD

25/11/2009 APPOINTMENT TERMINATED, DIRECTOR RODERICK MACKAY

11/11/2009 DIRECTOR APPOINTED MR RODERICK MACKAY

11/11/2009 DIRECTOR APPOINTED CALLUM ANGUS MACKAY

11/11/2009 APPOINTMENT TERMINATED, DIRECTOR ERICA MORRISON

11/11/2009 APPOINTMENT TERMINATED, DIRECTOR ALEXANDER TEARSE

11/11/2009 DIRECTOR APPOINTED BRIAN WILSON

29/01/2009 APPOINTMENT TERMINATED DIRECTOR DAVID GREEN

I think that the appointment of Cllr Roddy Mackay on 11/11/09 is actually the backdated appointment from 2007 and I think Angus MacKay (WIHB) was appointed in 2008, but the forms just weren't submitted at that time.

The accounts are due to be lodged by 31 January, but hopefully the Council will seek public (!?!) explanations before pledging yet more finance.

Anyone know who the new directors might be?

Is that you Kenny Flip?

Is that you Bunter?

Are you using Scottish Parliament computers?

Maybe Brian could take over the town hall as well?

Is there going to be a Beach Buoys tribute band resident at An Lanntair?

'Help me Roda, help, help me Roda..'

'I wish they all could be Mangersta gels...'

'Let's go smirkin, yeah lets go smirkin..'

And so on...(can't really think of anymore).

Good point 10.33. Perhaps Brian should be running Wee Wee (or whatever its called) and sort out the parking at Tescos. Do you think he might pop over and fix the tap in my kitchen?

I think you will see that a lot of the directors were only appointed for 2 years and the 2 years are up.

Does that mean that there is a 2 year limit to their appointment or can they offer themselves up for re-election?

Anon 3:00 - I've seen Committee members appointed for 1 year and for 3 years, and others where the members rotate and "offer themselves for re-election".

But 2 years? Never.

With them all going at once, they obviously didn't put themselves up for re-election, and as the 288 forms haven't gone in for any new directors, it looks like a mass exodus.

Even if he did make a massive error of judgment with the windfarms, he made a massive personal fortune out of it, and I guess that as Brian made it to running the country we could rest assured that he at least has some talent. Maybe he could be appointed a special advisor to the council, health board and all other failing sectors of the Western Isles establishment, in fact dammit, why not Brian for President, he could hardly do a worse job.

Yes very good DJ. Was trying to think of something clever along the lines of 'little goose kook' or perhaps 'Cod only knows' but I'll leave it for now.

Nothing to do with Brian:
Someone has mentioned on another post about members of the public and the press being chucked out of the council chamber, presumably whilst they talk about things top secret. Under the FOI are they allowed to do that and if so under what circumstances?

6.06pm - Yes, they are allowed to eject the public and press from the Council Chamber. But only for specified subjects - i.e. a person's private business might be identified, the identity of a child in care might be made public, a matter which relates to military security or revenue protection might be imperiled, or the details of a commercial contract might be disclosed. There are a few other reasons.

Stuff disclosed in 'private' session (as it's called) is not usually disclosable under FOI as the relevant bits are usually blacked out, unless the consent of the parties concerned have been sought and granted. But it's two different bits of law (FOI and excluding the public and press), so just occasionally it's worth an FOI.

Good to see Calum Angus Mackay appointed as a director. He'll be a tremendous asset to An Lanntair.
