Help wanted...
Mr Cairns told BBC Scotland's Politics Show: "This hasn't been a good week for us and my thoughts are with the hundreds of thousands, of not millions, of Labour voters who are wondering what on earth is going on."
Scotsman: A referendum on Scottish independence now appears almost inevitable after Wendy Alexander, Labour's leader at Holyrood, announced yesterday that she would not block the SNP's referendum bill in 2010.
Press & Journal: Alexander: I was only calling the SNP’s bluff
Does anyone have the faintest idea what Labour is trying to achieve? If so, could they please advise Wendy Alexander on how strategy works.

Angus, tsk tsk, Labour strategy is perfectly clear on this one, a Tory government in 2010 and an independant Scotland not long after that.
On the face of it, one of the most cock eyed strategies in the history of politics, but hey! who are we to question two of the most brilliant minds of their respective generations. A hearty well done to all concerned.
Not such a daft strategy really.
Sometime ago (not that long ago though), there was a campaign for the indepence of Greenland.
This campaign stuttered along for a period of time and then started to become more popular.
The Danish Government (who rule Greenland) even told the campaigners that they would not stand in the way of an independent Greenland. They also told Greenland that of course, when they became independent they would have to lose all the money that went to Greenland from Denmark. Because it would be unfair to support an independant nation state.
Result? The indepenance campaign collapsed.
Parallels with the UK? Scotland goes for 3p/£ LIT the UK treasury says thats great we'll keep the housing benefit funding that you currently get because it pertains to Council Tax. Is this the start of the withdrawal of funding from Scotland?
Moral? Becareful what you wish for, it may come true.
i am afraid the Labour strategy may be cleverer than you think, Angus (though not well carried out) the strategy appears to be get the old 'link' between the SNP and tories going again - Just because i happen to agree with Hitler that the sky is not green with pink stripes at midday, does not make us on the same side!
All quiet from the Labour/Rangers party, they are all in Manchester for the Who? efa cup final. This is as close to perfection as it's going to get, enjoy it while it lasts.
