Schools decisions
Well, Rev Coghill mised the vote on Lionel and was late into the debate on Shawbost and consequently didn't vote on the first two decisions.
The other absentee was one of the Religious interests; and Rev Martin had to leave part way through the process to attend a funeral before the vote on Back School
But who were the other missing two, and why were they absent?
According to my sources two of them were David Blaney, as he was off the island on official business, and Murdo "Maroot" MacLeod, who appears to have been in the Council for the rest of the week.
This does appear to add up now!

Are you sure that that surname wasn't Blain - he can get out of anything!
Maroot, wasn't he also awol when the windfarm decision was being taken?
Spineless, who said that??
Some of our councillors need to guarantee their income stream and disappear when there is a decision to make that might be slightly controversial.
Whatever the disappointing behaviour this time, Maroot was the only councillor who bothered, on his own initiative, to ascertain what his constituents thought of the windfarm proposals. As far as I know he polled every third house in his ward and found about 2/3rds opposed. He then voted accordingly.
I understand that this was against his own opinion which was to support the proposals.
Is that the same Maroot who did an extensive survey of the feelings of the people in his own ward towards the LWP windfarm, then voted accordingly?
Would that certain other councillors had had half his integrity, on that particular disaster area anyway.
As one of the constituents consulted by Maroot about windfarms he offered us three choices - for, against or prefer it built on between Ness & Tolsta.
I made it clear I wanted it built regardless but if we had a choice I would prefer it to be between Ness & Tolsta, and he promised to represent my views. He had about 1/3 for each view, as I recall.
He then announced that 2/3 were against the application.
W*nker.
Will he do the same on Sunday opening of the sports centre?
Murdo Maroot asked his constituents a question that wasn't even on the agenda.
I think you will find that he managed to find a funeral as an excuse for not voting at one of the windfarm decisions.
Oh here we go again. Sh*te bag Maroot becoming entangled in his many “principles” and “dilemmas”. He always finds funerals/weddings and matters of a personal nature to attend when a difficult decision has to be taken. Remember the flurry of funeral and communion going in the Tolsta/Back area when he thought he could beat Angus Graham. The true Christians saw through the money motivated sh*ite bag. I was also canvassed by Ma-toot – all I’m glad about, is that he didn’t burst into one of his stomach churning prayers. The only thing that consoles many of the people he claims to “represent” with his little greasy clip board is that he’s been found out at cnes, and that they gave him no office. Many in the Church would do the same if he hadn’t been elevated earlier( too much hassle getting rid of him). On the schools issue, he’ll do what he’s done all his life, and face every direction. And of course be completely sincere about ALL positions taken. That’s our man….. a laughing stock. A poor soul actually. One we should pray for – and the MP should really go and see him to read him the Gaelic Koran.
I heard that Maroot decided that he had to take a very long Sh**e during the Education Committee when he heard that his fellow compatriot Roddy Mackay had lost so much business on the back of his supporting the school closures. He decided to have a closure of his own. God forbid that he might have an opinion that may result in him losing money be it salary or rental income.......

Our MP should go and see him and show him what he looks like with just his jacket on whilst the pipers are doing their thang....
Aye, I see the retards are back on the rounds again...
Some are being unfair to Maroot. Have a look at the council minutes (as up to date as they'll ever be) for February both Maroot and Blaney have supported the two year secondaries. This of course begs the question as to whether the duties that kept them away from the chamber this week were more important than supporting the schools.
Further searches show that Blaney nominated the Bun for chair backed by the VC last May. I can see why VC (close schools, build schools) wanted the Bun (close schools outside Harris, build schools, one in Harris) but if Blaney really supports two year secondaries why did he support the Bun. If Blaney really supports two year secondaries why did he not turn up last week. Likewise Maroot, where was he?
Maroot was at the wedding of a close family friend in Inverness.
what? his wallet was getting married? or in of his seven houses (in the childrens names, of course)
So Maroot, who is paid £15k per annum to support his electorate believed a non-family wedding was more important than attending the Council when they were voting to close the schools. Does he not realise that his vote could have made the result completely different. The guy just looks for any excuse to dip out of the difficult decisions. You just wait, I bet he'll have an urgent appointment with his hairdresser when the full Council vote comes up next week.
Tell-him to come home before he gets a bright idea.
further to my earlier post I would suggest that any questions of any councillor's integrity before the debate at full council are premature and anyone who was unable to be present last week has the opportunity to redeem themselves this week

No point talking sense like that to some of the commenters on this blog. Their only weapon (and interest) is vitriol.
