The date of the General Election

I now know when the election will be next year, as we have just booked our holidays, and they will undoubtedly clash!

I'm waiting to see what odds I can get from the bookie before spilling the beans.

1st May 2010 - old Labour day.

Sorry Brown and Darling you ain't Kier hardy or Ramsey MacDonald more Pte Fraser as your all doomed.

If you're right then you will spare yourself the freak show! Spill the beans so more of us can avoid the boring, really boring coverage of next year's big event (sic).

All the smart money is going on May 6th. That's the same day as the council elections; it's unlikely GB will want to do it after them if Labour take a hammering (he can call it for any time up to June 3rd).

Council elections are usually every 4 years 2007 -2011. Except the absolute disaster that was STV and clashing with SG & European elections. This has now being solved by extending local council elections to 5 years 2012 then back to 4 years 2016. This will give a 2 year gap between local and national elections.

If Broon & Mandlespart had their way it would be on May 32nd.

You seem to forget that England has a different electoral system in that they have Council elections every year for some or all councils. Scotlands electoral system is so insignificant that it doesn't enter the calculations when deciding a General Election. As 2.25 says the smart money is on May 6th.

Clearly the Barra Bhouy has got the big election day on his mind when he's writing to the MoD asking them that they pay the costs the Task Force(a brilliant team that worked wonders - without Mr MacNeil's assistance) I can assure you that all of us at the Range expect him to make a financial contribution - after all if he'd been awake at his station he'd have told us all about the breifing the MoD gave him - and we'd have intervened much earlier and the task force costs would not have been in the 100k region. Is this not a case of Mr MacNeil trying to be relevant and being a smart ar*e after the main event....

I see a letter on the hebrides news site from a nat supporter about the rocket range/and the MP's starring role. The authoress is making as much sense as her noctural wailings used to make 30 years ago
