The truths they don't want you to read....

1,000 posts

When I first started this blog away back in 2005 it was to amuse myself and to make acerbic comments on those who I felt deserved it.

It seems to have grown its own legs over that time, and I am very grateful to everyone for their supportive comments, "Keep writing that blog!", I got told by a Health Board employee; "We read it every Sunday, and can't believe some of the things you say!", said someone I met at Nursery.

I am current getting over 15,000 views a month, which fills me with pride and trepidation in equal measure.

I'm most grateful to the anonymous moles who provide me with gossip, nuggets of stories and copies of documents to fill the screen.

Some of what I write is deadly serious.

Some is immensely trivial.

Some might be wounding; but only if the recipient deserves it.

Some is entirely tongue in cheek.

The best part is provoking debate and argument, and seeing the response that fly in.

Onwards for the next 1,000 posts - which I will try to keep to the same standard(!) - and I will continue to allow through all comments, except the downright offensive and libellous.

I don't agree with everything you say - in fact, profoundly disagree with a lot (including probably everything you've written about wind turbines). But such is democracy; blogging would be boring if everyone agreed with everyone else.

Keep blogging. It annoys the backwards, and control freaks, who fear and despise the Internet as it means people can say stuff they don't agree with. Shock horror!

And takes the attention away from them.

It would be good to see more residents of the Outer Hebrides blogging. Got an opinion or something to say; throw it out there. Local, born-and-bred, incomer, whoever; your opinion is just as important as the next persons.

Taliking of posts the new one being prepared for the CEO's wife at CnES is taking shape.

Your going to have a job reaching 2000 at this rate.

which one is that? the one she is going to be tied to?

Rumour rife in the White House that the CEO’s wife is heading for her natural habitat - The MP’s/MSPs office. Apparently she’s going there after the summer break. Will keep you posted when I hear from personnel about her severance deal.

Happy birthday blogmaster. In here it’s just referred to as “the blog”. Just shows how it’s matured and is very much part of our community.

Congratulations, Angus, on your 1,000 posts. Hope you get many thousands more on here. I rarely agree with you (certainly NOT on windfarm issues), but it's refreshing to see someone prepared to stick their head out in Stornoway. Pity it's on occasion prejudiced and petty.

I am looking forward to the next 1000. Go Angus go!

Another reason to keep blogging - without us bloggers, local newspapers would have to work a lot harder to find news. In these net days, they just have the luxury of cutting and pasting from local blogs. Even though they aren't always grateful for it...

So keep blogging, so the WHFP, Gazette and the somewhat shady Western Isles news (who runs that?) can keep informing the offline residents of what us online residents read on your blog a week previously :-)

as most of the above don't always agree with you are saying but thst is the nature of the beast. Love checking into see what your saying and how your (ir)regulars respond keep up the good work.

Do us a favour tho, and let us know when you are going away so we know when to log on again.

How about committing to blogging three times a day, every day? That way, you can reach those next 1,000 blog postings within a year. It would also pass the time.
