MPs expenses - closer to home

Oh dear - caught !

One £220,000 property in London; one in Fort William; one in Glasgow; one in Barra; and one modest little hide-away under construction beside the Isle of Barra Hotel*.....

He said that expenses were a low priority for him because of his busy schedule

Perhaps he could have asked his part-time Parliamentary Assistant, Jane, to sort his claims.

The Union Jack Club? You could not make it up. Presumably he was going to be too 'tired and emotional' to make it back to the publicly-subsidised flat he had bought.

* I was told that this was the house, but not having seen it myself... If this isn't the house, can someone send me a photo of the correct property?

* I was sent a photo of the wrong house, which has caused some embarrassment to the people who own that house. I'm very sorry for that mistake, so please accept my humble apologies, and I will have to get to Barra to see the correct house which I am told is much bigger.

That isn't his new house, it's one of his neighbours.

It's good to know that, following the brave intervention of our MSP yesterday with the Royal Bank, our MP will now be able to get the refunds for his vodka and Toblerone (and hotel bills, and London club accommodation, and fireplaces, and gas heating, and wife's paycheque and ......) by Gaelic cheque. Well done, both of you, for fighting for the Island's priorites at this time!

You're right..you couldn't make it up! Did the Telegraph lift the expense claims from 'Alasdair Allan's blog'?!!

In some way's this is worth every penny of tax payer's money just to reveal what this bunch of tossers are made of. And no..most of us would not have the brass neck to claim for 'night porter drinks' and bars of toblerone when we get a fat salary for doing eff all. Laugh....I nearly bought my own beer.

So what exactly is high priority for him, because I certainly haven't noticed.

For all those administrators and accounts clerks out there, does this story not make your blood boil.

Not only is he arrogant enough to just throw all of his receipts at the pay office expecting them to do his work for him in sifting what is reclaimable and what is not, he is then blaming them for getting it wrong.

It's the transparent contempt for the processes and the staff involved that I find really discgusting.

Mr "I'm so important" MacNeil throwing his receipts at the staff who are supposed to check them and expecting them to sort out his mess.

Less than seven months it took him to become as pompous as the rest.

His house is MUCH bigger. It's the one with the trough outside with the words "public funds" inscribed on it.

Imagine the squeaky clean MP that reported Tony Blair to the police now found to be a fraudster and a cad.

And what I love best is that closing reference in the Telegraph's article to our MP's "heavy petting" session in Kirkwall.

According to the Sunday Mail (on-line), even posting anonymously need to mention I don’t buy that rag. Mr. Macneil stayed at a hotel for the first 6 months costing us the tax payer (booze and chocs included) £3,600 which works out at £600 per month.
He then says "When it became clear staying in a hotel was not cost-effective, I took steps to set up a flat." The new mortgage cost for his new pad - £834.26 per month, plus expenses. Now even a Sunday Mail reader can surely do the maths on this one.
On a further point as the mortgage payment from us the tax payer is for an interest only mortgage and from what we read the MPs pocket any profit from the sale of the second home, do they, giving the down turn in the market when selling their second home have to pay the difference if sold for less than the purchase price? I doubt it.

Could you please remove this picture from your blog - it is not Angus MacNeils new home and an invasion of privacy for the people that do own it.
And in future, make sure what you have is accurate before publishing.
THANK YOU.
