The truths they don't want you to read....

Lesley Riddoch

I finally caught today's programme tonight about renewable energy.

According to Alasdair Allan, he will press for a referendum on the Lewis applications.

The First Minister's (anonymous) Special Advisor says that Lewis will be the only place to have a referendum.

Does anyone know what the policy actually is, and to which applications it might apply as the SNP don't seem to know.

Next question: what is the point of the Comhairle bothering to take a view on the prospective Pairc application, when a referendum might save all the time and money?

Alastair Allan was useless. He doent know what the SNP stand for and paroted meaningless phrases like the good placeman he is.

Who's building the Pelamis - it would have been Arnish if only Angus MacNeil had given us some support.

LOL. Been here 12 months and tells us what is best for us. Only got in because he is not Morrison.

Hope Brian Wilson is wrong -- roll on the wind farms and work that will keep me on the island.

He may only have been here 12 months but he got elected (unfortunately).
Well I'm just sitting back and waiting for the debacle to take place.
A lot of people voted for AA on the windfarm issue alone, let's see what he delivers. 1/48th of his term has already lapsed and there is an eery silence.

Alasdair Allan is more than likely an adequate politician but time will tell what his commitment to the Western Isles will be.
If little Alex says "Alisdair to further the cause of our Scottish utopia we are going to have to shaft the people of the Western Isles" which side does Alisdair come down on, my money would be on Alex's
He has already shown a fairly duplicitous nature both within politics and elsewhere.
He must be one of the few anti wind farm campaigners that didn't lodge an objection with the Scottish executive, that's devotion for you.
By the way which month is the promised RET starting

Ever get the feeling all these anonymouses are one and the same (bitter) person?

Anonymous eyoop criticising anonymous others. Sound cove, I think, under another name. I am anon 2, and I voted for Allan, to get rid of Morrison.

Anonymous said...

Anon 2, I hope you don't regret your anti Morrison vote. One person can do a lot of damage in 4 years particularly if that person has no ties with the Western Isles whatsoever. Mr Allan can screw up royally and just walk with a nice big fat pension. Not an option us Islanders have.

The Alan Promises:
RET
Greater % Air Discount

He is more likely to cure cancer, and we will lose our air discount scheme no doubt, guys a complete charlatan. These islands will sorely regret May 1st 2007

Couldn't agree with you more laudrap.
Only point of clarification is that 6354 people will regret 1st May 2007, the rest will just have to suffer with the rest.

Jeez, at least get the date right, you clowns.

Anonymous said...

Of course those extra two days are going to make all the difference.

Angus,
You should put up a posting offering readers the opportunity to share with us mere mortals Mr. Allan and Mr. MacNeils' successes for the Western Isles. Keep it going for the next 4 / 2 years respectively and we can then see how much they've done for us and how lucky we are to have two such dynamic people representing the Islands.
Should make the voting dilemma so much easier next time around.
:)

If i really wanted to confuse i would give myself (at least) two different names, possibly on two different computers, prefferably next to each other(gives the impression of the occaisionnal similtanious post.) Which brings me to another point, does any one else feel that the "sound cove" and the oenamatopoeic "eyoop" are just too similar to be two different people?

sound cove said...

Sorry to disappoint, but I have only ever posted as sound cove.

I don't know who eyoop is (nor, for that matter, reiver or laudrup). I could have a stab at who most of the "anonymous" postings are from, though...

Anonymous said...

I'm Sound Cove and so is my wife, eyoop. Ignore the previosu posting.

I allow anonymity to encourage people to post. If they want to hide their identity under a nom de guerre, then that is their privilege.

"1/48th of his term has already lapsed and there is an eery silence."

That's a cracker. If you believe AA's going to be a failure, at least give him some time to do it in. If he does succeed in improving the islanders' lot, it certainly won't be with any help from you will it, anonymous? You're a very negative person...did you go to University for that, a ghraidh?

eyoop (who, the last time he looked, wasn't sound cove, reiver, laudrup, etc etc)

It will be interesting to see what happens, AA has the opportunity to proove us wrong, although I get the feeling that he is representing the SNP in Holyrood and not the Western Isles.
Throughout the election the local SNP attitude was fairly scary in that they were prepared to accept anything as long as the result was right for them.
AA's victory speech was a bit off, i've always hated bad winners and the way he gloated did no credit to himself, the SNP or more importantly the WEstern Isles.

also only posting as Reiver, does the SNP annon have difficulty in believing that more than one person could possibly be critical of Batman and Robin,

Anonymous said...

reiver, he was so transparent and desperate to be electeed he would have sold his granny. Maybe he'll be ok, but i doubt it.

Anonymous said...

Reiver, I think that they are more like Dastardley and Muttley (snigger, snigger, snigger)

Eyoop, If Mr. Allan wants to give me a percentage of his overly generous salary then I'll gladly give him the benefit of my wisdom.

Ta ta

Okay, let's start with an easy one. Mr MacNeil has served 50% or 1/2 of his term. In 5 words or less please list his major achievements for the benefit of the Western Isles.

Could the anonymous(es) blessing Angus's blog with their profoundly original thinking, brilliantly logical arguments and astounding wit give us mere mortals a hint as to why the Western Isles constituency has, in the space of two years, gone from being under New Labour in Westminster & Holyrood to now being SNP in both? Can they think of the reasons for this huge shift?

Or will some 'anonymous' just come up with another valuable comment like "Sooty & Sweep"??

good to know that there is more than one bitter and twisted individual in the Eyoop and sound cove family. lets hope they have children so they can raise them to be bitter and twisted indidviduals, too!

Shock news Macneil achievement.....

he assures future of local post office...in wait for it..Stornoway

I notice you didn't take the challenge to begin to list Mr. MacNeil's achievements Eyoop but chose instead to criticise those who try to bring a bit of light hearted banter to the fray.

I think the Hebrideans wanted a change and wanted Morrison out, unfortunately Mr. Allan was the only alternative.

It wasn't that huge a shift either, the majority is about the same as Mr. Morrison had in the last term. Mr. Allan is still going to have to work for it and not just for the party.

Yeah whatever, 'anonymous'. Uh huh. Nice trolling. Though your debating skills are, on a scale of one to ten, about minus three.

There is something highly amusing, though, about watching one (or maybe even two) 'bitter and twisted' nutters ranting away to themselves on an ex-councillor's blog, while the rest of us get on with things that matter.

The election's over, dear! Is your hearing aid on, dear? It's over! Yes...on May 3rd!

Cheerio! [whistles off cheerfully into the distance...]

Could you explain what makes me "bitter and twisted" in your eyes? Which of my previous postings have upset you so much? I have no reason to be either bitter or twisted, and would hope to be described as neither.

On the other hand, though, several of the "anonymous" postings on this blog could certainly be described as such.

As I previously posted, I would like to see a more positive agenda on this blog, without the cowardly "anonymous" cheap shots. Is that too much to ask?

The SNP have control over the Western Isles mainly because people have become bored with New Labour and anti-blair sentiment, not beacuse the SNP have been doing anything right but more because they havn't done to much wrong.
As any serious political anorak could forecast there was never any chance in the next four years of there being a referendum on independance,
Does this mean Salmond has sold out his principals for the ministerial masionette?
If Macneil can behave himself, or if the other allegations don't see the light of day he will probably win at least one more election, I'm not so sure about AA as I doubt he nor the SNP will be able to deliver on many of their promises.
