Uist

In light of events in Uist, I have suspended the previous post on Storas.

Angus, one of the tremendous strengths of the communities in the islands is the ability to come together when there is personal tragedy.
From Ness or Vatersay there won't be a family that is not affected in one way or another by the events currently unfolding in Uist.

This communal awareness of the strengths, flaws, triumphs, and suffering, that forms the character of the local, allows for a depth of view that is all too often ignored.

Your blogs have allowed for an expression of opinion that would probably never be heard, and I was very reassured that you chose to suspend your blog on Storas.

Tragically, almost inevitably, at this time of the year there always seems to be some dreadful accident.

Whilst hoping against hope for a favourable outcome to the search in Iochdar and area, I'm pleased you took this decision, Angus. From many miles away, my thanks.

I hope there is closure soon, of course preferably in a positive way. Partially for the sake of the parents.

And partially, as has happened today with one national newspaper, journalists don't warp a couple of "stories" they've heard from locals (or made up themselves) and do a "Man disappears in dark, sinister place" type article. The Uists are a lot safer than e.g. most of the central belt, Nottingham, London, Manchester etc.
