Opening night was just dire. And for some strange reason was totally focused around the BBC centre in Glasgow. The focal point of Scottish Gaelic "culture" - I think not.
The word you are searching for is "Cach".
A big, steaming, heap of cach.
Only star of the night was Tom of WD40 fame.The rest were machaire rejects.
It can only get better and better it must get otherwise kill it. By the way 'Cach' is 'the rest'; 'Cac' is what Anon 2:17 was referring to

Which parts were focused at Pacific Quay? The opening "ceilidh" that was broadcast on BBC2 was held at Sabhal Mor Ostaig on Skye.
The only thing that seemed to feature Glasgow at all was the reworking of Alba when some of the awful singers were filmed outside the BBC Scotland headquarters and the footage of pupils from the Glasgow Gaelic school.

The singers in "Alba" included Art Cormack, James Graham, Sineag McIntyre, Kenna Campbell, Seumas Campbell and Kirsteen Macdonald. Every one of them a gold medal winner at the Royal National Mod. Oh, and Karen Matheson from Capercaillie.
Fair enough if it's not your cup of tea, but they can hardly be described as "awful".

It was awful. They are all amazing musicians, but the whole thing sucked. A great song made amateur. Bad direction of the singers (was the instruction "imagine your mum has just died"? The majority looked like someone was holding a gun to their head). In no way the celebratory piece it should have been. Terrible sound mix - whoever did that should be quite embarrassed.
But that was what, 3 mins of the entire launch night. What about the sound falling apart from Sabhal Mor? The Elibheas, well, thing (comedy? drama? god knows). And, oh yes, a random doc about a murderer. Brilliant scheduling.
Thought it was very good myself. An excellent development for the Gaelic language and culture and hopefuly a furthering of our national identity.
yes I liked it too. I really wanted to see Turas Trump but missed it. Im dissapointed that it wont be available on anything other than sky or freesat - many people are dissapointed with that.
I hope BBC2 doesnt immediately pull its gaelic programmes for this reason.
As a resident and non-Gaelic speaker who has made two half-hearted attempts to learn the language, this has put me off.
I also thoroughly enjoyed it, a great start.
As a fluent Gaelic speaker I am encouraged by what I have seen so far. Well done
