Audit Scotland and the Councillors
"The Councillors need to be more involved in the decision making process"
The blog formerly known as "Angus Nicolson - an incredulous eye on the isles" this was the blog of an ordinary, boring, former Councillor in the Western Isles of Scotland.
Angus is taking a sabbatical to be with his young family
Debate strengthens democracy, except inside the SNP, as he has discovered.
If you want balance then get some scales. This is opinion - our opinion.
Any proven errors of fact made will be corrected in the original article, or by publishing a correction at the same degree of prominence, or both. As far as practical, others who have quoted the article will be requested to make a note in their article - this would include, for example pinging back with the correction those who had linked to the original piece.
If articles are ever removed, a statement of why that has been done will be left in situ.
The rest is entirely at my discretion.

Quite. They don't even turn ip to community council meetings or reply to calls and emails. They are a joke. All Ness councillors just avoid, avoid, avoid. Shame on them.
Oh dear, the officials won't like that prospect! So many of them, have worked so hard, for so many years just to avoid letting the councillors know whats really going on. Of course at the same time most of the councillors have been working very hard at learning how to look the other way!
The good people of Ness should give thanks and be thankful that your elected representatives avoid isolating those who are not with them; aviod intimidating those who are not with them; and avoid annihilating those who are not with them, as is the case in onther areas of these Islands.
Personality cults which are manifest in control structures which persist beyond their period of proper authority tend towards complete immolation yet will attempt to persvere till ejected by force.
The lack of such a personality at the council should be appreciated as should be the fact that an external agency is willing to help them do better. Pity those at mercy of unscrupulous leaders, even if they are elected, where there is no external agency to help them and those governed have learned to look the other way to avoid seeing injustice and evil.
For as long as our elected representatives do not avoid looking for injustices then they can be helped to do the right thing which is to strive for justice and equality for us all.
