Modesty prevents me....

Sod modesty.

We have been shortlisted for "Independent firm of the year - Scotland", which we are extremely proud and very pleasantly surprised about.

The awards are announced on 30 November, but with most of the public sector, including the schools, being on strike that day, there is no way we can be sure that we can get there and back in a sensible number of days.

As we'll be at least runners-up, we'd have liked the photos for publicity purposes, but perhaps we'll just hold our own ceremony that day.

Well done Nicolson & Co it will impress the hell out of those intrnational clients making a saving using the Western Isles as an accounting haven, now all we need is offshore tax haven status and we will all be employed by you.

It's great to see that our local MP and MSP are working with you to ensure you get the best PR out of this for the Western Isles.... Good on you for this achievement.

I have some bad news. The link on there shows that the nominee is not you, but Nicholson Accounting, obviously a different company. Sorry :-(

From a Press Release regugitated in the Gazette:

People in the Western Isles are being urged to explore a dynamic new initiative aimed to attract and retain talent in the financial services industry.

There are 151 people currently working in these services in the region and the launch this week of the engaging new website, ‘re:think’ by skills minister Dr Alasdair Allan is designed to encourage more people into the industry."

So I'm sure that Tintin sends his love and kisses and will be along to see you soon.

Angus,

Having been a finalist at one of these awards cermonies for best new product I have a top tip....buy a full table, it'll do your chances no end good.

Since I'm not crowing about winning your guess we were runners up (4 tickets bought) to the winners (a full table).

Good luck ;-)

2:07 -It starts at £250 per seat, plus flights, plus hotel, plus lost income; and schools are closed that day due to the strikes; and some public transport will be off in London......

Hold your own ceremony in the office, Angus, and I'll raise a glass to you.

You're a damn good accountant and so is your talented wife.

Bad luck on not winning. On the plus side; you've just saved several thousand pounds by not going to an award ceremony where you didn't win. Top notch on being runner-up, anyway.
