The tourist boom

With all the tourists expected on the islands, it is a bit of a surprise to see the Lochmaddy Hotel, Taigh Dearg and Temple View all for sale.

Contrary to denials in the press last week, it looks like the Carinish Inn might be up for sale too:-
Proposal: Change of use from hotel to manse, church and church hall/cafe area

Agent: Mr J MacAulay, Clerk To Free Church Deacons' Court, C/o Malacleit, Sollas, Isle Of North Uist

Tigh Dearg got a heck of a lot of grant money to turn it from basically nothing to a plush pad. It would be interesting to know, when the owners make a whacking big profit, how much if any grant money has to be paid back.

And this is just the start of it...Thanks to our esteemed Scottish Parliament who can't seem to speak to Visit Scotland I think you will see a lot more licensed premises for sale.Maybe one day they will see that they are killing Scotland and not making it better. This is an apolitical comment as the present incumbents are no better than their predecessors.
