1+1=3 or is it 4?
Is it any wonder that the projected savings couldn't be achieved. And is it any wonder that overspends occurred when the basics were so wrong.
The Chief Executive of NHS Scotland is due to present this information to the Audit Committee of the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday, so look forward to more embarrassing revelations.
I tust that we will be told just who made this mistake, and who was responsible for failing to set up a Finance Committee to scrutinise the budgets.
Update 6/2/08
The full text of the letter to the Audit Committee is here, thanks to Hebrides News.

Everyone knows that Manson was to blame - he instructed the accountants to fiddle the books that's why some resigned and others who refused to carry out his orders were bullied into leaving.
Manson, Currie, Smith (who has a reputed enhanced pension of £75,000per annum to keep quiet), Sim (who's on a reputed £250,000 - £300,000 salary to keep quiet), and Fordham (who's reputed to have received £27,000 in relocation expenses to come to the Western Isles instead of the normal maximum of £8,000 - and who now has a rather nice B&B business) should all be brought to account.
I've never understood why Fordham wasn't sacked and continued her reign of misrule over the NHS finances. This smacks of the F-word. No, FRAUD.
The latest gossip is that the new Chief Executive lied when he told the Audit committee he had arranged cut price ops on the mainland....

Yes it stinks. Fordham and the others mentioned above have a lot to answer, although I think the Scottish Government are at last on to them. Look out for the Audit Committee meeting live tomorrow on http://www.holyrood.tv/

Come on, spill some more beans......
The current situation is dire.
The Gaelic lovey Labour chair of the Health Board wants to move on but - it was Labour that put Manson in place so he can't!
Everything that's wrong in ther Health Board I'm glad to say points to Labour wrong doing. And what of Labour's Sandy (I'll never sell out to Boots) Matheson?
Where does he stand in all of this? Strangely silent it seems.....
If the evidence is reputadly so strong for fraud why doesnt someone just walk into the Polic station and make a complaint?
The constabulary are then duty bound to investigate.
Why do we live on islands shrouded in financial scandal and mis-doings?
If it is not the folk of Ness and their ex-councillor misappropriating money, its the dark side in Lochs and Aline Forest accumulating grants and jobs for the boys, The Health Board fiasco, Windfarms, South Estates, HIE pumping Camcal with millions of public funds, council using tax-payers money to promote private developments. I am sure I am just scratching the surface.
A lesson that should be learned by all is we need to clean up our act.
I have many external business contacts who refuse to invest in an island so riddled with nepatism and shadowy dealings. This is the picture that is painted to the outside world.
What is it they say - 1000 people hear your bad news story and just one your positive.

I've just checked and the Health Board matter before today's Audit Committee is being held in private - but a letter from the Acting CE regarding the matter raised by Anon 10.28 is published on the Parliament website.
Any more news on the Chairman with the dodgy CV?
So, Manson and Currie are to be called before the Audit Committee - let the fun commence......
Don't forget Smith and Fordham too who've also been milking the Health Board finances.....
Oh...and Mr. Sim
