The world didn't end....
And with the impact of RET to be discussed on Wednesday at the Board Meeting, a lively debate is forecast.
As I have long prophesied - and it really didn't take much brains to work this out - if RET reduces fares and increases traffic, then what do you do when the ferry is already virtually full?
Of course, you build a bigger and better ferry - except that the Government won't even consider this until the pilot is over in three years time. Which leaves Sunday sailings as the only option, which will be approved by the Government, to prove that its policy can and will work.

And your point is?

Sorry, but did you actually read the post? I think the point is made fairly well.
Not wanting to put words into Angus's mouth - but they can come from mine instead.
Lets do it again - every week!
A somewhat cynical conclusion Angus.
Are you saying Sunday sailings will be introduced to justify (a financially compromised) RET - ie to show that traffic will increase?
Are you suggesting that the real solution to increasing capacity is a larger/faster ferry that would then not need to run on Sundays?
The reality is that capacity problems are mainly at weekends and are caused in large part by not having Sunday services.
The solution is simple and cheap - Sunday services. Agreed, we need better ferries on the Stornoway - Ullapool route but we also need to make full use of the present ferry.
Why build a bigger ferry? Why not have two ferries operating a more flexible timetable?
Why do Lewismen (and Harrismen - H D MacL) lack vision?
