Broadband

Isles MSP Alasdair Allan has today written to Connected Communities to raise the capacity issues which are now occurring on the BT link from Stornoway to London, which provides the internet connection for customers of Connected Communities.
Didn't our MSP promise that the SNP would solve all the Broadband issues?

Shouldn't he be writing to the Minister?  Surely his mate can have more influence to fix the problem.

Isn't an improvement already scheduled to happen (or happening)

As long as Concom are there to muddy the water, fast or superfast broadband will not get to many in the Western Isles. Accept that and start pushing for BT to lay fibre.

Terrain is not the real issue, political interference and bloody minded doggedness is!

We don't want Heb.net broadband, I assumed from Mr Allan's pledge that he was going to sort out proper broadband for the whole of the western Isles.

If thats the case it certainly wouldn't be heb.net he should be looking to sort the issue but getting funding to get BT to upgrade all exchanges in the western Isles,

Heb.net as usual makes promises about giving us faster speeds & download allowances to keep us sweet for another while but it never seems to happen. How can they say they are going to double the speed of all packages if they dont even have the capacity to accept any more customers?

Now I remember why I didn't bother voting

Would he write to the CalMac ticket office in Sy about the revised ferry timetable?

(Probably)

This is all about distracting the natives from the real issue whilst blaming someone else.

First broken pledge - of many.

Oh, give the poor bugger a chance. They haven't even got comfy in their chairs yet and you're beefing about broken pledges. I would say this is more about him dealing with a side issue, I expect him to take the main issue forward also, but in politics nothing good happens overnight.
And 8.47 if you didn't vote what right have you to complain!

Ahhh...five years of Angus griping mainly about the SNP, closely followed by a ragged pack of disgruntled bloodhounds with bunged-up noses. Hmmm, that all sounds familiar, no?

7.21 Had I thought AA would have sorted anything out I would have voted for him & then I would have felt I had the right to complain.I will be delighted if he proves me wrong.

I have been trying to find out what Broadband services are available in the Western Isles as I'm looking into moving to the area. However, this has been a very frustrating task. So I have created the web site www.network-hebrides.co.uk to try and gather together whatever information and experiences of service providers that comes my way. Anyone is welcome to provide and use the information on this site. Thanks, Richard.
