Carinish Inn
Has anyone got an update on the current situation?
(BTW: having less than 10 letting bedrooms means that you don't qualify as a 'hotel' for tax purposes and cannot get tax relief on the cost of the property. No charge; this time.)
The blog formerly known as "Angus Nicolson - an incredulous eye on the isles" this was the blog of an ordinary, boring, former Councillor in the Western Isles of Scotland.
Angus is taking a sabbatical to be with his young family
Debate strengthens democracy, except inside the SNP, as he has discovered.

Any proven errors of fact made will be corrected in the original article, or by publishing a correction at the same degree of prominence, or both. As far as practical, others who have quoted the article will be requested to make a note in their article - this would include, for example pinging back with the correction those who had linked to the original piece.
If articles are ever removed, a statement of why that has been done will be left in situ.
The rest is entirely at my discretion.

Depends which BS Uist gossip - of which there are a fair few - you listen to. They don't know? They'll make something up.
Same with the wildly varied list of things the Lochmaddy hospital is going to be used for. Depending on which gossip is holding court, this *WILL* be:
- A Tesco mini-store.
- A young offenders institute.
- A co-ordination centre for nuclear waste disposal.
- A drug dependency rehabilitation unit.
- An alcohols rehabilitation unit (The "Amy Winehouse clinic").
- An Ikea.
- An accordian factory.
- A TV studio (UBC)("Uist Broadcasting Corporation"; aye, right).
- A highlands and islands distribution centre for Ann Summers.
- ...or a distillery.
For factually correct information, you just can't beat a Uist gossip.
All of the above under one roof could be a winner...
what about a brothel or a crack den
Yep. The LORD is moving in. Here's the news from the Wee Free Website:
Purchase of Carinish Inn
The Deacons' Court of North Uist, Grimsay and Berneray Free Church of Scotland wish to confirm that they have reached an agreement to purchase the property formerly known as the Carinish Inn.
The congregation will take possession of the property from Tuesday 18 November and will use it to progress the work of the Gospel in North Uist, Grimsay and Berneray.
