Using public money for party political ends

Too much time on their hands, too little to do, and they are sitting there wasting your money....

You may have noticed that Google comments are 1 hour out, due to the clocks having changed.

My goodness.  Which one of the MSPs multitude of staff was this, do you think?

Apart from being contrary to the rules, this follows on quite nicely embarassingly from the Police investigation into the self-same computers being used to smear the former Labour Candidate with libellous comments.

We'll be passing this to the Parliamentary authorities for their comments.  Was that you Kenny Flip?

You would be appalled at the amount of time that Parliamentary staff are spending on this blog, but I am sure you can guess which of the comments - all coincidentally supporting the SNP - have been made by them  :-)

Clearly the words 'Anonymous said' mean nothing on this blog. Clipe.

Firstly I'm surprised that anyone is spending a huge amount of time on here. We are not exactly talking about dealing with a large number of lengthy comments on a daily basis.

That said it appears someone in Edinburgh is taking an interest and while the comment you note may have been from someone with an SNP bent, it could as easily be from one of the other parties, after all we have 7(?) list MSPs each with an office of lackies with bugger all to do. I would find it hard to believe you, who are clearly not of the SNP persuassion, are suggesting that only the SNP take an interest in opinion on the isles? what would this say about the complacency amoungst the rest of them? Or would you rather that no MSP, MP, MEP or any of their cohorts took any notice of (largely) unfiltered public opinion from our islands?

Ultimately that they spend any time on here and feel inclined to comment on what is being written is something of a complement. You should accept it for that and if your views and those expressed are relevant, should encourage active participation from our political inferiors.

Publishing ISP addresses is probably not a way of encouraging engagement, debate or of increasing your readership - unless you only want to hear from folk who agree with you.

I hope your not a LazyChicken imitating an ostrich.

2.57 Well said.

This site is probably one of the very few avenues which are available to the common five eighth of the islands which actually both stimulates debate and gets issues aired, which would otherwise be buried.

That it is regularly visited by those who are keeping a keen eye on the plebs is probably the best accolade of all.

Down in Uist this site has been like a torch shining into the murky goings on of Storas. Without this degree of exposure the wee pretendy lairds would have run completely amok.

Up here in sunny Stornoway there has naturally been no need to peek under the lid of the Comhairle and at the latest episode of The Woodentops.

As the original poster at 12:34, and very much one of the plebs 9:52 refers to, I would advise Lazychicken at least to learn to read IP logs or, more accurately, not pick one out of a list to suit his own dubious ends. Come to think of it, a few lessons in blogging and blogging etiquette wouldn't go amiss either. If you react like that to such a tame comment, you shouldn't be blogging at all.

If you're so wrong about the origins of my comment, then how accurate are the claims made about the 'self-same computers' being used to smear Labour candidates? Don't need Einstein to work that one out.

Anyone who publishes IP addresses and wrongly (deliberately?) implies they are responsible for a comment that they are not responsible for is misleading their readership (who will never find out unless the original poster responds) and shouldn't be let anywhere near the moderation of a blog. Your antics are more suited to the Daily Mail.

Leave it to Angus please, at least he doesn't throw his toys out of the pram when he sees something he doesn't like.

And if someone, who is in the public areas of the Scottish Parliament, uses the free wifi and makes a post, do you make the same assumption about the identity of the blogger?????
