CBI back Trump
"[They] said an investigation would be justified if there was evidence or informed suspicion of wrongdoing, but that so far neither had been turned up."
Can it get more embarrassing for Alex Salmond?
Trump's henchmen have agreed to appear in front of the inquiry, surely now appreciating that an investigation can be a way to clear the air and remove suspicion. Which is more than can be said for the CBI.

Embarassing? Maybe for those who want an inquiry but not for Alex Salmond.
What is embarassing is the realisation that council members (past and present) didn't understand the impact of the designation they allowed in 2000.
In such circumstances, a little bit of humility might be expected.
Rather than claim "we were lied to", why not accept that you got it wrong?
If you're looking for someone to blame, try the mirror.
